Description

Orientation tool for My Pain Alert(R) Scale use within an organization such as nursing home or day treatment facility for people with communication limitations.  One inch thick three ring binder includes all the interactive Pain Level stories, American Sign Language signs, Are You Hurting? My Pain Alert(R) Song, and large color Word and Picture scale pages.  The Binder includes:  research references, how to adapt interaction to individuals and troubleshooting.  Also included are group session suggestions for therapeutic professionals working with individuals in a residential setting to support resident/client practice using this pain scale tool for limited communicators.  Frequent practice with pain care vocabulary is particularly important for individuals with memory limiting conditions. Text pages are in plastic sheet protectors, so can be wiped clean after use. 

Children’s Hospital Child Life programs will find this is an economical resource.

Included with the Binder are  50 MPAS cards. It is suggested that MPAS cards be held by individuals during practice sessions, and used by staff passing medications or responding to patient issues.
